No. ProofPass can be used completely anonymously with PIN-only mode. No email, no Google account, no sign-up required. Your data stays 100% on your device. For cloud sync (Pro), you can optionally connect a Google account or email — but it's never required.
In local mode, all data is stored in an on-device encrypted database (Hive). Nothing is transmitted anywhere. In cloud mode (Pro), your data is end-to-end encrypted on your device using a key only you hold before it's ever sent to Firebase. Our servers store encrypted blobs — we mathematically cannot read your data.
Yes, completely. Go to Settings → Delete All My Data. For local users, this wipes the device database and PIN instantly. For cloud users, this deletes your Firestore data, Firebase account, and all local data simultaneously. There's no grace period — deletion is permanent and immediate.
Yes. We follow GDPR principles throughout the app design. You can export your data, delete your data, and use the app anonymously. Our Privacy Policy details all data handling. For users in local-only mode, GDPR is essentially irrelevant since no data is processed by us at all.
Never. Full stop. We don't sell, share, or rent your data to any third party for any reason. In local mode, we never even see your data. In cloud mode, it's end-to-end encrypted before leaving your device. Our business model is simple subscriptions — not data monetization.
🧾 Receipt Vault
Three ways: (1) Camera scan — open the app, tap + → Scan Receipt, and point your camera at any paper receipt. OCR extracts all details automatically. (2) Import PDF — tap + → Import PDF to import digital receipts saved as PDFs. (3) Manual entry — tap + → Add Manually to type details yourself. All methods let you review and edit before saving.
Our OCR achieves 94–98% accuracy on clear, well-lit receipts from major retailers. Accuracy depends on receipt quality, lighting, and printing clarity. All scanned fields are fully editable — tap any item to correct anything the AI missed. Unusual receipt formats or faded thermal paper may require minor corrections.
Free plan: up to 10 receipts. Pro plan: unlimited. There's no hard limit on Pro — we've tested vaults with thousands of items. The app uses efficient local storage so performance stays fast regardless of vault size.
Yes. ProofPass automatically tags each receipt with a category based on the store and product type (Electronics, Clothing, Home, etc.). You can manually change any category. Filter and search your vault by category, store, date range, price, or warranty status.
ProofPass extracts: product name, price paid, store/retailer name, purchase date, return window (if detectable), warranty duration, and any serial or model numbers visible on the receipt. You can add your own notes and tags to any item.
🔄 Returns & Warranties
When you add a receipt, ProofPass reads the return policy window (e.g. '30 days') and sets a deadline. You'll receive OS push notifications at customizable intervals before the deadline — for example, 14 days out and 3 days out. The deadlines screen shows a visual countdown bar for every item.
You can manually set any return deadline on any item. Tap the item → Edit → set Return Deadline to any date. Most major retailers' return windows are recognized automatically, but you always have full manual control.
ProofPass reads the warranty duration from the receipt (e.g. '1 year limited warranty') and tracks the expiration date from your purchase date. You'll receive notifications before your warranty expires so you can file claims or buy extended coverage in time.
Yes — that's exactly what Proof Packs are for. Tap any item → Generate Proof Pack. You'll get a professionally formatted PDF with your receipt image, purchase details, warranty info, and product details. Share it via email, iMessage, WhatsApp, or save to Files. Pro users get watermark-free PDFs.
Check in this order: (1) Device permissions — Settings → Apps → ProofPass → Notifications → allow. (2) In-app settings — Settings → Warranty Reminder and Return Reminder toggles. (3) For recalls — run a manual scan in the Recalls tab. (4) Do Not Disturb — make sure DND isn't suppressing alerts system-wide.

ProofPass automatically matches every item in your vault against official CPSC (Consumer Product Safety Commission) recall databases, plus recall feeds from Health Canada and other agencies. Matching uses product name, brand, and model — the same data you provided when adding the receipt. Free users can run manual scans; Pro users get automatic background scans up to 10 times daily.
Immediately: you receive an OS push notification. In-app: the item is flagged with a red recall indicator and moved to the top of your vault. The recall detail screen shows the official recall notice, reason for recall, potential hazard, and the official remedy (refund, repair, or replacement). A direct link to the official recall page is included.
Yes. ProofPass scans all items in your vault regardless of purchase date. Many consumers are still using products recalled years ago without knowing. Adding older purchases is strongly encouraged.
Currently: United States (CPSC), Canada (Health Canada), and United Kingdom (OPSS). We're actively expanding to the EU, Australia, and additional regions. If a recall for your product is listed in any supported region, you'll be notified.
